WYC Tennis Team wrapped up their season on Friday
with a second victory over Bass Rocks!

Fun
for all at the Parent/Child Tennis Tournament!
The 2009 Wingaersheek Parent/Child Tennis
Tournament was held last Sunday in perfect weather
conditions. There were fourteen parent/child
teams competing for the title in two draws. After
a long morning of intense battles, the winning
team of Adam and Jill Piispanen outbattled fellow
family members Drew and Bob Piispanen for the Draw
A Championships. In Draw B, Evan and Steve
Osterman defeated Peter and Jill Gallagher in the
final match. Some other notable teams of
Mark and Mark Delamere and Brendan and Jill
Gallagher won the Consolation brackets of their
respective draws. The Parent/Child
tournament was filled with delicious donuts,
raffle, mini tennis games, and arts and crafts for
the future participants. Overall, the
Parent/Child Tournament was a successful day for
the Wingaersheek Yacht Club. Congrats
to all the participants! |

Tennis Team Defeats Bass Rocks
July 10th
The Wingaersheek tennis team competed in their first match of the summer
season against Bass Rocks on July 10. The team consisted of five very
strong players including Emma Archard, Margaret Adams, Alex Blalock, Caitlin
Coates, and Kyle Sarazin. With only five players, the Wingaersheek team
battled for over two hours in very warm conditions against the very large
Bass Rocks team. With a mix of doubles and mixed doubles play, Wingaersheek
outscored Bass Rocks 42-38 in games in a tough battle. The Wingaersheek
team displayed great fight and competitive spirit along with strong
sportsmanship. Everyone is encouraged to come support the team at their
next match on August 14 at Bass Rocks from 1 to 4 pm.Photos
